This obviously sound approach is being clearly proposed ever since June 2005. Then, the first Vista demo showed a web service allowing a realtor to analyse property data displayed on satellte photos. Interestingly, Microsoft is now providing such a service.
The question this raises is: how will Microsoft partner with other enterprises – customers, partners and competitors, in this space?
The current approach is exemplified by SPLA licensing, where Microsoft asks partners to pay a premium for the opportunity of leveraging Microsoft’s platform for their "software as a service" offering.
How representative of Microsoft’s future web services partnering approach will this be?
