t’s the first activity for grown-ups – after videogames, that is – where he is putting in extra effort in his spare time, and getting some reward.
One of his fortes has been leveraging his basic knowledge of music and musical ear to reproduce bass melodies he has heard.
Yesterday he did so for Peter Gunn’s theme.
This, as it were, struck a chord with me. I am the kind of person who watched "The Blues Brothers" 13 times before 1982, going as far as audio-taping the soundtrack since it was many years before VCRs got any prevalence around us. And showed our son the movie when he was 6 – then off a DVD on to a computer screen.
